Prospect Management
The Office of Foundation Relations provides a central point of organization
for the University's systemic effort to engage private philanthropic foundations.
By doing so, we effectively represent Purdue's overarching objectives while
courteously respecting most foundations' desire for a single point of contact
at academic institutions.
Research
Using our knowledge and resources, we will research prospective foundation
funders and find a match between a proposed project and a foundation's area
of interest. Many of our research resources are unique on campus.
Proposal Development
Foundation Relations will assist a prospective grant-seeker in developing a proposal,
including outlining the goal and scope of the project, budget planning, presentation
strategies, and general grantsmanship tips. Since Foundation Relations does not
have dedicated grant writers on staff, applicants, their unit development officer,
and the director of foundation relations will work together to fashion grant
proposals.
Foundation Visits/Campus Visits/Events
Foundation Relations is available to assist in making arrangements for a visit
to foundations by the president, provost, deans, and faculty, and facilitate
visits to campus by foundation personnel.
Stewardship
Proper stewardship of a gift is the surest route to the next gift. In all cases,
the Office of Foundation Relations works with foundation partners to assure that
their charitable-giving goals are met, and that appropriate recognition is given
for their support.
In collaboration with Sponsored Programs Services (SPS) and the UDO Stewardship
office, we will aid you in fulfilling your reporting obligations in a complete
and timely manner.
