Message to alumni and friends, March, 2005
As we pass the $1.1 billion mark in The Campaign for Purdue, I
am extremely grateful for the members of our wonderful Purdue family
who are helping to transform this great University into a truly
preeminent institution. Our success in the Campaign is the result
of the profound dedication and enthusiasm of our alumni, friends,
corporate and community partners, faculty, staff, retirees, president,
and trustees.
The excitement here at Purdue is spreading. At recent "Purdue
on the Road" events, Provost Sally Mason hosted nearly 1,000 alumni
and friends in Atlanta, Dallas, Seattle, Cincinnati, and Detroit.
At Purdue Day in Naples, Florida, participants enjoyed "Back-to-Class"
sessions, and we are happy to report all passed their final exams
with flying colors! Meanwhile, President's Council members enjoyed
outings to Fiddler on the Roof and 42nd Street .
Our theme for these events — "Purdue: It's Happening
Here!" — reflects
the intense activity and positive change happening at Purdue as
a result of our efforts.
On the corporate front, we recently held corporate alumni luncheons
at several of our key companies. These included a visit to Coca-Cola
headquarters in Atlanta, where we were presented with a $50,000
gift for the National Youth Sports Program. While visiting Verizon
in Dallas, we were presented with a gift to support the Minority
Engineering Program and scholarships for Computer Science. We also
visited with Proctor & Gamble in Cincinnati, where Provost
Mason provided a Purdue update to the more than 45 alumni in attendance.
I hope you will be able to join us in the next couple of months
at one of our Indiana community visits with President Jischke or
at a "Purdue on the Road" event near you. Thank you for your
continued support!
Hail Purdue!
