Faculty/Staff FAQ

What is Purdue Day of Giving?

Purdue Day of Giving is April 30, 2014.

Purdue Day of Giving is an online-based fund-raising event that encourages friends and alumni to come together, support their favorite unit and help it win prizes in matching funds.

How do I make a gift?

To make a gift on April 30, visit DayOfGiving.Purdue.edu and click the button to the right that says “Donate Now” and follow the directions provided. You can also make a gift by phone at 1 (800) 319-2199. Thank you for your support!

How do I decide where to give?

You can choose from among many giving opportunities at Purdue University. Gifts to a listed fund make a vital difference in the lives of students and often support the unit’s area of greatest need. If you don’t wish to prioritize any one cause, you may donate to the participant’s listed unrestricted fund, which allocates donations to the area of greatest need.

Where does challenge money go?

Challenge and prize money will go to the winning unit’s unrestricted fund.

What is the President’s Student Affordability and Accessibility Challenge?

Through the generosity of a proud Boilermaker, $500,000 is allocated as a one-to-one match for any gift, up to $25,000, made to the President’s Student Affordability and Accessibility Fund on Purdue Day of Giving. Donors may direct their gift to a particular academic or degree-granting unit located on the West Lafayette campus. The gift will be credited to the President’s Student Affordability and Accessibility Fund and allocated to an Indiana student in the unit for which you expressed a preference. Visit any of the following participants’ pages and select the President’s Affordability and Accessibility Fund to double your impact:

  • College of Agriculture
  • College of Education
  • College of Engineering
  • College of Health and Human Sciences
  • College of Liberal Arts

When are the hourly challenge winners announced?

The times listed on the leaderboard are the times at which the challenges begin. The winner will be announced at the end of that hour. For example: The international challenge begins at 9 a.m. EDT, and the winning program will be announced at 10 a.m. EDT.

Can a donor send a gift by mail or phone?

Will I get a receipt if I give through payroll deduction?

No, just as you do not presently receive a gift receipt for your payroll-deducted contributions.

Will my payroll-deduction gift be eligible for the match on Purdue Day of Giving?

No, only new gifts to the President’s Student Affordability and Accessibility Fund will be eligible for the Purdue Day of Giving challenge match. We encourage all faculty and staff to make a one-time gift to this fund on April 30, either by mobile pledging or online, if they want their gifts matched. If you wish, your gift to student affordability and accessibility can be allocated toward a particular academic program. To make a gift, visit DayofGiving.Purdue.edu or text PURDUE to 41444 and then click the link to fulfill your pledge.

I write a check at the end of the month for my giving. Will this count if it is not received by Purdue on April 30?

No. For your check to count toward the Purdue Day of Giving totals, it must be received on or before April 30. If you don’t give through payroll deduction but want your contribution to count, simply drop off a check to the Dauch Alumni Center or give online on April 30.
