The Class of 1979 High Ropes Challenge Course
Above and Beyond
The excellent education we received at Purdue University more than 25 years
ago has opened many doors for us in our professional and personal lives. Leadership
initiatives available through our student organizations and extracurricular
activities played a very important role in our education. Leadership training
and team-building, issues not generally addressed in the classroom, are widely
recognized as important and integral parts of a well-rounded education and
carry over into all aspects of our lives.
On the occasion of our 25th anniversary, The Class of 1979 went Above
and Beyond expectations and made a monumental contribution to the leadership experience
at Purdue University. Through the generosity of class members, we built a high ropes challenge course on
the West Lafayette campus as our gift to our alma mater and to future generations
of Purdue students.
Courses generally consist of horizontal and vertical challenges situated from
20 to 40 feet above the ground. When groups or individuals tackle a ropes course,
there is a tremendous opportunity for them to learn about teamwork, trust,
and risk-taking while challenging themselves in a high-pressure situation.
Our fundraising goal to build The Class of 1979 High Ropes Challenge Course was $200,000. This goal has been met.
