Director of Development
School of Mechanical Engineering

Description

The Director of Development, School of Mechanical Engineering, will report to the Associate Vice President for Advancement and work closely with the Head of the School of Mechanical Engineering, and other school & department colleagues to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward prospective donors, including individuals, corporations, and foundations with the potential to contribute major gifts to the School, College and University. The Director of Development, School of Mechanical Engineering and the directors of development for engineering schools will work closely with the College of Engineering Director of Advancement, Director of Corporate Relations, and the Director of Development for Major Gifts to coordinate college and school advancement activities, including communications, alumni relations and development. Travel is required for this position.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Three years of experience in the development field, including solicitation of gifts in a non-profit organization.
  • Strong relationship-building skills and demonstrated capacity for leadership, organization and teamwork.
  • Strong conceptual understanding of development, public relations and marketing.
  • Excellent professional communication and listening skills.
  • Ability to represent the University with tact and diplomacy at all levels.
  • Ability and willingness to travel.

Preferred:

  • University experience.
  • Familiarity with the University and the programs of the College of Engineering.
  • Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, database, and Internet.

  • Travel is required for this position.
  • A check of criminal conviction records will be made for employment in this position.
  • FLSA: Exempt (Not Eligible For Overtime)
  • Retirement Eligibility: TIAA/CREF Contribution Waiting Period
