Director of Development
School of Chemical Engineering

Description

  The Director of Development for the School of Chemical Engineering will report to the Associate Vice President for Advancement and will work closely with the Head of the School of Chemical Engineering and other school and department colleagues, to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major gift prospects and donors, including individuals, corporations, and foundations with the potential to support the School, College, and University's priorities and needs. The Director of Development for the School of Chemical Engineering and the directors of development for other engineering schools will work closely with the College of Engineering Director of Advancement, Director of Major gifts, and Director of Corporate Relations to coordinate college and school advancement activities, including communication relations, alumni relations and development.

Qualifications

Required:
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Five years of development experience, including solicitation of gifts.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication, including ability to speak before large groups.
  • Ability to interact with stakeholders from a wide range of professional and cultural backgrounds.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to represent the University with tact and diplomacy at all times.
  • Excellent relationship-building skills as well as the ability to interpret and articulate the mission of Purdue University and the School of Chemical Engineering.
  • Ability to continuously improve professional competencies through participation of professional education opportunities.
  • Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, database, Internet, etc.
  • Ability to travel.

Preferred:

  • University experience.
  • Knowledge of finance and planned giving.

Additional Information

  • Travel is required for this position.
  • Weekend and evening work is required for this position.
  • A check of criminal conviction records will be made for employment in this position.
  • FLSA:  Exempt (Not Eligible For Overtime)
  • Retirement Eligibility:  TIAA/CREF Contributions Immediately.
