Dear Alumni and Friends,

It has been several months since I accepted the appointment as Director of Development for the Black Cultural Center. I’ve had the wonderful opportunity to meet and speak with many great alumni and friends at recent BCC events and on personal visits. I have come to realize that over the past 38 years, the BCC has made a huge impact on not only our students’ lives, but the entire community. With each passing year the BCC has continued to grow, bringing in amazing speakers and cultural icons, offering innumerable opportunities for student expression through the Performing Arts Ensembles, and earning its place as a home away from home for many.

As Purdue students, we dedicate years of time and energy to academics, student organizations, friends, and much more. These experiences help us to grow personally, prepare us for our future and serve as gateways from young student life to real world professionals. We go on to pursue our careers, find new places to call home, and follow our dreams. Along the road, we find ourselves looking back on our days at Purdue with fondness.

The great thing is our Purdue experience is not over. Purdue will forever be a part of our lives.  I hope the BCC, as well, was a place that helped foster who you are today.

Speaking as an alumna myself, I can’t possibly put a price tag on the unending opportunities and experiences Purdue provided me, and the strong educational foundation of my Purdue degree.

I give back because I want to make a difference and help to ensure that others have the same opportunities I had... and even more. I encourage you to think about your time at Purdue or your relationship with the BCC and what you are truly passionate about.

You can make an impact through scholarships, naming opportunities, programming for the center, performing arts ensembles, educational tours, and the list goes on.

While the University has done a good job providing the BCC with operational funds, your support is necessary to strengthen the impact the center has at Purdue and on the community. Your gift makes a difference to current students and their Purdue experience.

If you have questions about supporting the BCC or otherwise getting involved, feel free to contact me at (765) 496-2679 or via email at alamb@purdue.edu. I am looking forward to meeting more of you in the months to come and hearing about the impact the BCC has on your life!

All the Best; Boiler Up!
