Accomplishments 2005 - 2007
  • Diversity has been incorporated into the strategic plans for all departments
  • Cultural awareness/diversity training has been added to new employee orientation for all staff within the Treasurer’s area.
  • Over 1900 staff members participated in cultural awareness training
  • Developed a website for the diversity task force
  • Developed a reference list for supervisors with recommended minority journals, websites, newspapers, etc for advertising vacancies. (online)
  • Developed a community resource list of support groups and cultural activities. (online)
  • Established an internship program
  • Conducted a diversity survey to assess the current perceptions of staff within the Treasurer’s area.  Over 48% of staff participated in the survey.  Interviews were conducted with approximately 50 staff members to validate survey results.
  • Began incorporating diversity into Spring Fling activities
  • Developed bi-annual reports for senior administrators to monitor retention and recruitment for underrepresented groups.
  • Developed training on “Managing a Diverse Workforce” for staff members with administrative responsibility (250 participants)
  • In the process of centralizing and automating a web-based exit interview tool and supplemental reports.
  • Piloting a new employee mentor program.
