Dear Purdue colleagues,Over the past few months we have made progress identifying potential cost-saving initiatives, operational efficiencies, and opportunities for new revenue generation throughout the university.
We value open dialog and have held three open forums, received helpful input, talked with the University Senate, and formed a number of productive committees.
Faculty and staff have been an important part of this process through their active membership on the steering committee, joint committee on budget, and joint committee on campus feedback. Their expertise has also been a great help to the task force for specific activities.
We will meet with the Board of Trustees next week to provide them with an update on our progress. No final decisions on compensation and benefits will be made at this meeting.
The input we continue to gather will help us form recommendations that will become part of the operating plan for FY 2011. The Board of Trustees will review the operating plan in April 2010, and a final decision on the plan will be made at that time.
Your valuable input will help us emerge from a most challenging economic period as a leading research university with a high-quality academic program, more resilient and productive than ever. Thank you for your support.
