Biofuel Research Receives $12 Million Grant
Purdue’s Center for Direct Catalytic Conversion of Biomass to Biofuels (C3Bio) was one of the 32 projects selected out of over 200 applications to receive Energy Frontier Research Centers (EFRCs) funding. C3Bio was awarded a $12 million grant from the U.S. Department of Energy to help continue their research in converting biomass into fuel.
This grant is a renewal of funding from the $20 million grant received by C3Bio in 2009 during the first round of EFRC. The original grant resulted in six patent applications, a startup company, and the opportunity to engage over 100 early career researchers. The renewed funding will allow C3Bio to continue to lead ground breaking research in biofuels.
