Boiler Tailgate Team 2013 Results
If you would like to earn much-needed service hours, or just come out and have a good time knowing that you are making a difference, the Black & Gold & Green Tailgate Team might be just what you're looking for.
Boiler Tailgate Team helps make recycling easier for Purdue football fans during home games. With your help, we can show the world that Purdue is a sustainable campus and community.
Volunteers are vital
The Tailgate Team has been immensely successful, with an 18% diversion rate on Purdue's tailgate lots. The initiative has also been invaluable in helping people shift their thinking to a "recycle first, trash second" mental model. For 2013, the Tailgate Team has an aggressive goal: a 50% diversion rate.
As a volunteer, you'll hand out recycling bags to Boilermaker fans as they enter the tailgate lots. You may also be stationed at the base camp tent to help organize the volunteers and provide recycling information to fans while cheering on the Boilermakers.
Tailgaters are asked to fill the bags with recyclable materials such as plastics, glass bottles, and aluminum cans. When the bags are full, they can be left anywhere in the tailgate area for members of the Black & Gold & Green Tailgate Team to collect and recycle.
Football season begins August 31, 2013 and the first home game is September 7, 2013 at noon. We hope to see you there — Boiler Up, Hammer Down!
