Highlighting Diverse Firms Doing Business with Purdue University

Loftus Engineering

Loftus Engineering has been providing mechanical and electrical engineering services to Purdue University for seven years. From smaller projects, such as air handling unit replacements to larger projects for new construction, every project benefits from our knowledge of Purdue standards and our experience collaborating with the team of Purdue project managers, engineers and inspectors.

Karen Loftus, the firm's president and a Purdue University College of Engineering alumna, credits its success on the experienced, dedicated individuals who lead the firm's projects and mentor the firm's newer designers and engineers, as well as student interns. The atmosphere in the firm's downtown Indianapolis office is supportive and collaborative. Continuing education and industry specialization are promoted within the company.

Loftus Engineering prides itself on maintaining in-depth knowledge of both current and developing technologies, so that its engineers can implement the best strategies that fit within the needs, schedule and budget of each project. The firm is proud of its most recent contribution to the Purdue University West Lafayette campus: the Roger B. Gatewood Wing of the Mechanical Engineering Building, completed in August of 2011. Loftus Engineering performed the mechanical and electrical engineering for the building project, Purdue's first LEED certified green building.

Loftus Engineering, a Certified Woman-Owned Business, maintains a commitment to diversity and the promotion of women in science, engineering and technology. Over 45% of the firm's staff are women. The company has also contributed time and resources to other initiatives, such as IUPUI's Preparing Outstanding Women for Engineering Roles (POWER) Summer Camp and Girls Inc.
