Indiana Scholar Corp Program

The Commission for Higher Education received a grant from the Office of Faith Based and Community Initiatives with the purpose of assisting with college completion for 21st Century Scholars. This grant now funds a new program called Indiana Scholar Corp for Twenty-First Century Scholar college students. The program is overseen by an AmeriCorps member with four main objectives for the program.

Academic Performance and Persistence resulting in increased GPA and on-time completion rates

• Student Engagement and Enrichment resulting in increased student persistence and retention rates

• Career Exploration and Enrichment resulting in increasing student perception of career preparedness

• Financial Literacy and Debt Management resulting in reduced debt load and federal student loan default rates

Resources are not limited to free tutoring, supplemental instruction, TfCS student organization, volunteer campus and community activities, and career development.

 

Additional Information 

 “Achieving satisfactory academic performance in college is a legislated requirement for students to maintain their scholarship eligibility under the 21st Century Scholars program.”

Beginning with the 2012-2013 Academic Years, students receiving state aid must meet the following eligibility requirements:

•Freshman - A cumulative GPA that constitutes "Satisfactory Academic Progress" as defined by the institution the student attends. Students should check with their institution's financial aid office to determine what cumulative GPA equates to Satisfactory Academic Progress at their school.
 
•Sophomore - A cumulative GPA of 2.25 on a 4.0 grading scale.
 
•Junior - A cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 grading scale.
 
•Senior - A cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 grading scale.
