Registering

You will register for STAR via the myPurdue portal, using the same registration system that you'll use to register for courses.

You will need to know the abbreviation for your college, school, program, or major to register for an appropriate section of STAR. The College of Engineering, the College of Health and Human Sciences, the College of Science, and the College of Technology each offer sections for specific majors. Students admitted to any other college, school, or program can refer to this table to determine the appropriate abbreviation. In the tables, the first column, College/Major, is a listing of the colleges and majors to which students can be admitted. The second column, Course Number, is the abbreviation for the College/Major that you will use to search and register for an appropriate section of STAR.

To register, do the following:

1. Once you have logged into myPurdue with your career account information, click on the link that reads Select your STAR Date.
2. If prompted, choose the STAR/BGR: New Admits Fall 2013 term.
3. Press the button that reads Class Search.
4. Under Subject, highlight STAR-Summer Trans Advis & Reg. This is the subject heading for all sections of STAR.
5. Under Course Number, enter the abbreviation associated with your college/major.
6. Press the button that reads Class Search.
7. You will be presented with a list of all STAR dates associated with that college/major. Choose the date that works best for you, and place a checkmark in the box to the left of that section.
8. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Register. You will now be registered for STAR, and you'll also receive an email at your purdue.edu email address confirming your registration.

* Note: Unless you are a transfer student who has been admitted to a specific engineering major (e.g., civil, mechanical), you should register for a First Year Engineering section.

**The College of Health and Human Sciences (HHS) has several units into which majors are grouped. Some units offer multiple majors. To determine which section of STAR you should register for, please review the above list of HHS majors. back to instructions

***The College of Science has STAR dates and sections specific to students majoring in Biology or Chemistry. To determine which section of STAR you should register for, click the links above and scroll down until you find your major - then register for the most appropriate section. All students with a major not falling into the Departments of Biology or Chemistry should register for a section for All other Science Majors.
