Move-In Coordinator

General Description: The Move-In Coordinator (MC) is a position that is vital to the success of Boiler Gold Rush (BGR). In addition to all of the duties of a Team Supervisor, the MC is in charge of the logistical duties of move-in in the respective Residence Hall to which each is assigned.

Duties include all of the duties listed on the Team Supervisor description as well as the following:

• Along with SOC Mentor, meet with residence hall staff of assigned hall during spring semester to establish rapport, review guidelines, and to review the strengths and weaknesses of previous BGRs
• Maintain contact with your residence hall’s staff throughout the summer
• Develop move-in grid for BGR staff assignments in hall
• Review assignments and duties with BGR staff prior to move-in
• Act as first point of contact for residence hall staff during move-in
• Setup check-in table
• Review with BGR staff at end of day to discuss what went well and what didn’t
• Train overnight hall staff on how to check-in BGR participants
• Attend MC Socials with the SOC Chair.
• Must be willing to work at selected events the Thursday-Saturday following BGR
• Other Duties as assigned

Transfer Transition Coordinator 

General Description: The Transfer Transition Coordinator (TTC) is a new position which will help with the new transfer program being added to the BGR program.  In addition to all of the duties of a Team Supervisor, the TTC will be responsible for working with Team Leaders of Transfer Only groups as well as attending and facilitating transfer events held throughout BGR.

 Duties include all of the duties listed on the Team Supervisor description as well as the following:

•         Attend monthly TTC training
• ·         Facilitate transfer interest session
• ·         Be able to articulate differences between first-year students & transfer students
• ·         Attend all additional transfer activities
• ·         Attend TTC Socials with Orientation Initiatives Members
• ·         Must be willing to attend selected events Thursday-Saturday following BGR
• ·         Other duties as assigned

Team Supervisor

General Description: The Boiler Gold Rush (BGR) Team Supervisor position is a mid-level leadership role that enhances the BGR program in numerous ways. The Team Supervisors act as liaisons between the Team Leaders and the Student Orientation Committee. Each Team Supervisor will supervise and train a group of Team Leaders and will conduct team meetings, icebreakers, socials, and troubleshoot any issues in the Residence Halls or with the Off Campus (O.C.) team.

Duties include are but not limited to:

 ·         Attend all Team Supervisor trainings, retreats and Mentor meetings (one on ones), along with Team Leader callouts, interviews, trainings and Team meetings.

• ·         Attend one (1) non-scheduled office hour every week in the Student Success at Purdue office during the Team supervisor’s SOC Mentor’s office hours.  If a time is         not accessible during those times, the hour must be during the SOC Chair’s office hours.
• ·         Be in complete communication with the SOC Mentor and the respective Team Supervisor’s Team Leaders. (Throughout the academic year and summer.)
• ·         Participate in the Team Leader interviews by conducting and evaluating the group or individual interviews.
• ·         Assist with the recruitment of Team Leaders by working tables, chalking, speaking in classes, etc.
• ·         Conduct Team meetings with Team Leaders throughout the year that are responsible and appropriate. These meetings should be informative and fun.
• ·         Live in the Residence Hall room assigned to them for the whole BGR program, from to 4pm on August 7 to the morning of Thursday, August 15.
• ·         Help coordinate REACTION discussions with Team Leaders.
• ·         Conduct various icebreakers, team builders or energizers for the group of Team Leaders.
• ·         Attend ALL BGR related events.
• ·         Answer the new students’ and Team Leaders’ questions with honest and appropriate answers.
• ·         Volunteer to help with Office of Admissions recruitment events by signing up to work the Student Success at Purdue table.
• ·         Coordinate solutions to participants’ problems, issues or emergencies with the Residence Hall staff during BGR.
• ·         Help the Team Leaders facilitate a well-planned and effective campus tour, both general and specific to the participants’ class schedules.
• ·         Many hours of manual labor prior to and during Boiler Gold Rush.
• ·         Volunteer as needed for events the Thursday – Saturday following BGR
• ·         Other duties as assigned.

General Description:
The Boiler Gold Rush (BGR) Team Leader position is an entry-level leadership role. These individuals will act as mentors and role models for new students attending the BGR program. The Team Leaders will be divided up by residence hall and will live within or near the residence hall in which they are assigned. The Team Leader is responsible for helping to make their group of first-year students' experience during BGR a fun, eventful, and informational week by conducting icebreakers, team builders and REACTION discussions.

Duties include but not limited to:

• Attend all Team Leader trainings, Team Leader Retreats and Team meetings, including All-Staff Training two days before BGR. If the Team Leader is not able to attend these events, he/she must notify his/her Team Supervisor as to why he/she is not able to attend.
• Be in complete communication with your Team Supervisor regarding issues during training, attendance issues, group dynamic issues, issues in the residence halls, etc.
• Work with your Boiler Buddy to coordinate events and activities with your groups during the week of BGR.
• Live in the Residence Hall room assigned to them for the whole BGR program, from the beginning of All-Staff Training to Thursday, August 15.
• Coordinate REACTION discussions.
• Conduct various icebreakers, team builders or energizers for the Team Leader's group.
• Attend ALL BGR related events.
• Answer new students' questions with honest and appropriate answers.
• Facilitate a well-planned and effective campus tour, both general and specific to the participants' class schedules.
• Must be able to motivate first-year students to attend all BGR events and programs.
• Other duties as assigned.
