OUR APPROACH TO ADDRESSING IDENTITY SECURITY
Student Services Technology and Assessment (SSTA) is taking a six-phase approach to planning for a more secure environment of identity information. We have entered and are going through the first phases of Discovery and Information Collection, and User Awareness & Education, and are beginning the second phases which are Cost/Benefit Assessment and Items Requiring Immediate Action.

Initiatives range from immediate things that everyone can do to safeguard data to departmental, administrative unit, and enterprise initiatives that will be investigated. Student Services will be working with ITaP and others to prioritize enterprise initiatives and assign resources.

Following this six-phase approach will help us insure that the things we do:

  1. have the most significant cost-benefit impact on identity security of all activities we could assign resources to;
  2. avoid disruption of business operations and service to customers; and
  3. have a higher degree of being completed and implemented successfully.
