Database Development
2001-2002
Projects
Throughout
the past year, the following database projects were completed
for departments in Student Services:
Consolidated Calendar for Student Services Production, SSC
This database will provide entries of production job names by Admissions,
Financial Aid, Registrar, and Bursar staff. The data will
be used by Management Information to establish production
calendars by day, week, month, or year.
Membership, DRS
This database will serve as a membership directory
for the Recreational Sports Center. It will track and provide
information about paid users' demographics, membership history,
and locker assignment/availability.
Upcoming
Projects
As a result
of this year's prioritization process, the following projects are included in the schedule for the upcoming year:
Aviation
Tech Fees, DFA
This database will track new and current
Aviation Technology students in order to determine increased
need and repackage the students' financial aid.
Merit Scholarships, DFA
This database will track merit
based scholarships in order to generate reports for the various
departments involved, to determine eligibility for the awards,
and to aid in the renewal process.
Readmission
Interview, DOS
This application would walk a prospective
student through a readmission interview that was accessed
via the Web.
Upcoming
Consulting
Iron Key Address Book, VPSS
Technical mentoring will be
provided for Dianne Fox, VPSS, in order to develop a database
to track addresses of alums and produce mailing lists and
labels.
Employee Database, VPSS
Technical mentoring will be provided
for Dianne Fox, VPSS, in order to develop a database to track
information about VPSS employees and create mailing lists,
labels, and nametags.
Loan Room Database, ODOS
Consultation and joint project
work will take place with Cathy Cobb, Dean of Students, in
order to fix current features as well as add functionality
to the Loan Room database.
Goals
2001-2002
- Survey,
prioritize, and schedule projects for the upcoming year.
- Complete
scheduled projects on time.
- Address
consulting needs.
- Obtain
client feedback through surveys.
- Communicate
initiatives and processes effectively by maintaining a user-friendly
website.
- Increase
awareness of the support available by coordinating communication
with the Director and the Zone.
- Develop
skills through workshops, conferences, and lectures.
- Share
knowledge with other Student Services developers by facilitating
workshop sessions.
- Work
with other Student Services developers to produce standard
practices in defining, planning, and implementing projects.
- Investigate
new development approaches such as web-enabled applications
along with appropriate tools such as Macromedia Ultra Dev.
