State of Indiana Proposals at Purdue: Quick Reference Guide

  • State of Indiana Agencies normally do not cover F&A costs unless referenced otherwise in the proposal guidelines.

  • Value Added Grants do not allow pre-award costs.  Please keep this in mind when thinking about the project period when submitting the proposal.

  • 21st Century Research & Technology Fund proposal guidelines can be located at the following web address: http://www.21fund.org/

  • When preparing 21st Century Research and Technology Fund proposals keep in mind the difference between cost sharing and leveraging.  Cost sharing consists of actual dollars that are required and committed to complete the proposed work.  Leveraging are funds that are anticipated to be received to Purdue University as a result of to the proposed work being conducted from the 21st Century project.

  • Many State Agencies have line item restrictions.  Therefore, budget preparation at the proposal stage is critical.

  • When submitting proposals to Indiana Department of Environmental Management, their line item labeled  “Other” consists of communication charges and publication and duplication charges only.

  • Mileage can only be budgeted at $0.40 per mile due to State Agency restrictions.
