General Information

- The U.S. Department of Energy procedures for submission of non-competing continuation proposals is dictated by the specific DOE Program funding the grant.

- Programs within the Office of Science do not require a formal continuation proposal. Although a formal continuation proposal is not required a Technical Progress Report is must be submitted at least 90 days prior to the continuation funding start date.  The technical progress report should be sent directly to the DOE Project Officer without going through SPS. Additional information on the Technical Progress report can be found at http://www.sc.doe.gov/grants/Report.html.

- Some DOE programs do require a continuation proposal be submitted 120 calendar days prior to the expiration of the current budget period.  As part of the continuation proposal a technical progress report must be included in addition to a detailed budget and statement of the estimated unexpended funds remaining from the current budget period.  Forms required for the continuation proposal includes the Standard Form 424 – Application For Federal Assistance and Standard Form 424A – Budget Information.  These forms can be found at http://contacts.gsa.gov/webforms.nsf/ce29673810060784852569ae0067f22e?OpenView&Start+117.  Page down until you come to the form numbers 424 and 424A.
