Spring Fling: An occasion to celebrate
Welcome spring, and welcome Spring Fling 2013!
This year Spring Fling returns to the newly renovated France A. Córdova Recreational Sports Center. On May 23rd, I hope you come and enjoy some of our mainstay events, try out some new ones, and get a tour of the Center!
You can enjoy the tour, yoga, zumba, and bingo indoors or visit the car show, play yard games, get a short campus tour with CityBus, participate in the fitness walk, and listen to a variety of music from United Sounds, Inc. outside. Once again, the Red Cross Bloodmobiles will be on site as well as the Food Finders Food Bank. To help with the food collection initiative, barrels will be located inside the Rec Sports Center two weeks prior to Spring Fling. Anyone can drop off their food donations during that two week period, or you can bring your non-perishable items on event day. Spring Fling is a great way to enjoy fun with friends and colleagues while giving back to the Greater Lafayette community!
Spring Fling will hold its inaugural "Zero Waste" challenge in 2013. The Purdue community has done a fantastic job with our green initiative by recycling all plastic and cardboard over the past few years. The challenge this year is to add composting. Containers for food waste as well as mixed recyclables will be located inside and outside the Rec Sports Center with clear signage as to what items to place in the container. This is a great way to show how much we care for our campus community.
The coordinating committee has been hard at work creating an atmosphere of fun for Purdue staff, faculty, retirees, and grad staff. We hope you will all come out and enjoy the day!
Best regards,
Carrie Hanson, Spring Fling Chair
