April 2 @ 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM - Mann Hall, room 203
Associate professor of nursing Lisa Hopp will share the results of a study conducted in partnership with St. Mary's that tested a point-of-care feedback tool to improve patient safety and adherence to evidence-based guidelines.
The use of evidence-based guidelines has been shown to improve patient care and outcomes, and there are many techniques to increase the use of these guidelines. Guidelines for catheters can help mitigate urinary tract infections. This study tested a new suite of tools focusing on point-of-care feedback opportunities and action planning at the St. Mary Medical Center. The results showed an increase in use of evidence-based guidelines, and a decrease in hospital-acquired and in catheter-associated urinary tract infections. Presented by Lisa Hopp, associate professor of nursing at Purdue-Calumet, and the project’s principle investigator. A reception will follow the presentation.
