The two-day event will (1) discuss knowledge gaps, challenges and opportunities in nuclear power, (2) showcase/poster session ‘Nuclear Energy Research at Purdue,’ and (3) identify interdisciplinary collaborations. The event will consist of a public lecture, a technical keynote inauguration lecture, and a research workshop.
Five panel sessions include:
Discovery Lecture Series Speaker - Nuclear Power: Past, Present, and Future by Sal Golub, Associate Deputy Secretary for Nuclear Technologies, U.S. Department of Energy
Technical Keynote Inauguration Speaker - Research/technical challenges, opportunities for advanced nuclear energy systems in the 21st Century by Phillip Finck, Chief Scientist, Idaho National Laboratory, Idaho Fall, Idaho
There is no registration fee, however registration is required. Please register by Oct 13, 2014.
The Discovery Lecture Series and research workshop are co-sponsored: College of Engineering; Energy Center Discovery Park; School of Nuclear Engineering; Krannert Energy Club; Lilly Endowment Inc.; Purdue Chapter of American Nuclear Society; Purdue Energy Forum.
Poster Session: change in time/date/location: There will not be a poster session prior to lecture on Oct 16. They will now be displayed during the entire workshop on Oct 17th from 7:30 am until 2:30 pm during the Nuclear Power Research workshop in the Burton D. Morgan Center for Entrepreneurship (MRGN) Cafe. The authors may be available to present from 10:00-10:30 am or at 2 pm.
You may bring your poster to MANN 105 any time prior to Oct 17 and pick them up after 4 pm on Oct 17, and we will mount it on a poster board. Alternately, you could set it up prior to starting event at 8 am. We understand that this new time and date may not meet your schedule and understand if you are not able to participate. Posters should be 3' wide x 4' high.

Parking: Event parking will be available behind the Birck Nanotechnology Building. Turn South on Martin Jischke to Nimitz Dr, first right off the round-about. Take a Right on Nimitz. Proceed through first stop sign and take a right at the stop sign for Marshall Drive. Enter the parking lot on the left. Please park where there are barricades with signs.“No Parking Police Orders”.
