OVPR Workshop: Overview of the NSF CAREER Program
The Office of the Vice President for Research will host a workshop for untenured faculty in all disciplines who are interested in developing a proposal for the NSF CAREER competition. Richard Buckius, vice president for research, and Sue Grimes, assistant director of Research Development Services, will present an overview of the CAREER program and discuss key points to consider when writing a proposal. From the faculty, Suzanne Bart, a recent CAREER awardee from the Department of Chemistry, will present on her experiences in preparing a successful proposal. Wilella Burgess, managing director of the Discovery Learning Research Center, will talk about how to utilize the unique features of that facility as well as answer questions and provide guidance on the educational component of the CAREER program. There will be an opportunity for faculty to ask questions of all presenters. To register, click here. Lunch will be provided so pre-registration is required by Monday April 29th.
New Financial Conflict of Interest Requirements for NIH/PHS Proposals and Grants: New requirements for disclosure of significant financial interests by investigators associated with proposals submitted to and awards funded by NIH and other Public Health Service agencies are in effect beginning on Friday, August 24, 2012. Purdue’s Policy on Individual Financial Conflicts of Interest (Policy III.B.2) and the OVPR Financial Conflict of Interest website have been revised to address these new requirements.
