Arden L. Bement Jr., former director of the National Science Foundation and inaugural director of Purdue University's Global Policy Research Institute, has been honored with a new fellow program and energy fund in his name.
The Global Policy Research Institute has awarded its first Graduate Student Research Fellowships to two Purdue University graduate students.
A Purdue research center leading efforts to develop the next generation of scientists and engineers to help solve world hunger is awarding $175,000 in grants to graduate students at seven U.S. universities.
The Global Policy Research Institute would like to congratulate two of our affiliated students on being recognized as recipients of The Charles O. McGaughey Leadership Award. Milad Alucozai is one of our GPRI Ambassadors and is in the College of Health and Human Sciences. Nicholas D. King is one of our 2013 Interns and is in the College of Education. This award honors students for leadership promise. To be eligible for these awards, students must have completed a minimum of two years full-time study at Purdue and achieved at least a 3.0 graduate index. Recipients are selected on the basis of their contributions to the University and the community. Each honoree receives $3,345 as an acknowledgement of their superior leadership abilities, scholarship, and appreciation of basic American values, and a crystal paperweight commemorating the award. Congratulations to Milad and Nick!
The Global Policy Research Institute would like to congratulate all faculty that have recently been promoted but especially those faculty that have a connection to GPRI through our various programs:
Timothy Filley, Professor of Earth, Atmospheric, and Planetary Sciences
Benjamin M. Gramig, Associate Professor of Agricultural Economics
Venkatesh Merwade, Associate Professor of Civil Engineering
Fu Zhao, Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering
Sonak D. Pastakia, Associate professor of Pharmacy Practice
Congratulations on accomplishing this milestone!
Achieve a global presence in helping the world solve long-term grand challenge issues by linking research with global policy.
The Global Policy Research Institute (GPRI) enhances the visibility and impact of Purdue University's strengths in policy-related and multidisciplinary research, education, service, and outreach to inform decision-makers on global policy issues.
Purdue University’s decision to launch a Global Policy Research Institute (GPRI) builds on Purdue’s solid foundation as a land grant university with a world renowned reputation in agriculture, engineering and the sciences. With Purdue’s research competencies serving as its foundation, GPRI is focusing its efforts on building and sustaining three critical pillars.
Provide opportunities for students to learn about global policy issues and experience a policymaking environment through: courses, mentoring, seminars, conferences, internships, and fellowships.
Foster a culture of multidisciplinary, evidence-based research collaborations focused on policy-related global issues or grand challenges, e.g. food security.
Leverage connections among local, state, national, and international decision makers with Purdue faculty experts to address global research issues through state of the art research.
The purpose of this particular WWW page is to provide some advice about how to prepare and present testimony with some greater confidence and success. It is based on personal experience of Gene Spafford testifying before Congressional committees and commissions many times.
