We are pleased to announce that the Purdue Institute of Inflammation, Immunology and Infectious Disease will be hosting Dr. Shahid Jameel, CEO of the Wellcome Trust/DBT India Alliance, a partnership between Wellcome Trust (UK) and the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India. This is a fellowship program that supports the best and brightest people in biomedical research in India. Details of the work they do can be seen at www.wellcomedbt.org

As a part of his current responsibilities, Dr. Jameel holds outreach events in India as well as overseas (USA and Europe) to inform about their program and attract accomplished researchers at multiple career levels to India. Though realistically their target group is postdocs and junior faculty of Indian origin, the program is not restricted by the applicant's nationality. In the next phase of the program, starting April 2019, Wellcome Trust/DBT India Alliance also plan to invest in collaborative grants, with the possibility of funding overseas labs as well on research that is driven by scientist(s) in India.
