About the Office of Research

The Office of Research oversees university-wide strategic initiatives and all operational and regulatory functions of the Purdue University research enterprise. Purdue’s deep strengths and top-ranked academic programs in engineering, agriculture, science, and technology enable the university to develop and deploy technologies that are critical to U.S. economic prosperity and national security, and to persistently pursue solutions not yet imagined. The Office of Research catalyzes Purdue-led research by bringing together researchers and resources across traditional academic boundaries and providing guidance and support for their work to drive discovery and societal impact.

The Office of Research administers Purdue’s University’s leading interdisciplinary institutes and centers, facilities, and research cores. Several large-scale interdisciplinary research facilities are located in Discovery Park District. These facilities are an extension of the campus research infrastructure allowing multidisciplinary groups from across campus to come together and address grand challenges and opportunities. Specialized instrumentation, equipment and facilities make up Purdue University's research cores and are available for use by faculty and partner researchers. Research core professionals also offer assistance to users with equipment, analysis and interpretation of data.
