Electronic Research Administration Computer Workshop Opportunity
The NIH eRA Commons is an on-line connection to NIH for information
on pending applications and awarded grants as well as a gateway
for the electronic facilitation of many routine business processes.
An overview of the eRA systems will be covered in the Regional Seminar
itself and an eRA booth will be staffed throughout the two-day seminar
to answer questions, but for those who prefer a hands-on orientation
to computer systems we are offering the following 2 ½ hr
computer labs on the Wednesday preceding the Seminar. There is an
additional fee for these labs. Please see the registration materials
for fees and times of labs. Space is limited.
Hands-on eRA for Business Officials
The Business Official lab is geared toward the day-to-day activities
of a Signing Official, Grants Administrators and other business
officials at grantee organizations. . The session will cover NIH
eRA Commons administration activities such as creating accounts,
maintaining account information and viewing and updating institutional
and personal profile information. It will also cover specific business
processes as submitting Just-in-time information, “No-cost-extensions”
and grant closeout information. Participates will learn how to run
common status queries and generate hit lists. Instructors will offer
“tips and hints” for effective system use and will discuss
upcoming system updates such as the upcoming organizational hierarchy
feature.
Hands-on eRA for Principal Investigators
The PI lab is geared toward the day-to-day activities of a Principal
Investigators, and their administrative staff. The session will
cover such activities as reviewing and updating personal profile
information, submitting Just In Time information, and initiating
an eSNAP (electronic simplified non-competing application progress
report). Participants will learn how to check on NIH Review Group
Assignment, priority scores, summary statements, and application
status. Instructors will offer “tips and hints” for
effective system use and will discuss upcoming system updates. The
Commons based Internet Assisted Review (IAR) module will also be
covered for PIs who are involved in NIH review committees
