Recently, Radiological and Environmental Management has initiated some new training programs to make them more task specific for radiation workers on campus. The newest training is for sealed source users, which disregards all discussions regarding contamination, contamination control methods and surveys, while focusing on important sealed source information. This training includes sealed source and laboratory security, periodic leak testing, and inventory. Sealed source training is also given to all users of the irradiators and moisture density gauges on campus. This training applies only to those who exclusively use sealed sources. Isotope users must go through the regular Radiation Safety Training (however, it is not necessary to attend both sessions as the sealed source training is included in the complete course). |
