Deans and Provost’s Direct Reports,

 

Members of the undergraduate advising community have worked diligently over the past few months to provide the data needed to build the myPurduePlan online resources (Degree Works).  This memo provides you with some of the high-level details of upcoming events showcasing myPurduePlan online resources.  Pam Horne will contact you with additional information in the coming weeks.

Two public forums are being held on March 6, 2012 to introduce the undergraduate academic advising community and undergraduate student body to myPurduePlan online resources (Degree-Works).  Effective January 2013, all undergraduate students matriculating to Purdue in the fall of 2011 and after will begin using myPurduePlan online resources to perform the following functions:
  • Online Advising Worksheets – allows students to review progress in completing degree requirements
  • Student Educational Planner – allows students to plan for future course work to fulfill degree requirements in a timely manner
  • GPA Calculator
  • What-If scenarios – allows students to determine how their earned credits would apply to another Purdue major
By 2015, the West Lafayette campus (including Technology Statewide locations) will expand myPurduePlan functionality to include degree clearance for all undergraduate students.  Additional functionally will be rolled out each year.  Unlike the CAPP system and similar systems implemented in the past, the myPurduePlan (Degree-Works System) will be consistently administered across all colleges, schools, and majors throughout the West Lafayette campus (including Technology Statewide locations).

I have asked Pam Horne to provide regular status updates to you.  The Office of the Registrar will work collaboratively with the Associate Deans, Head Academic Advisors and the undergraduate advising community to further shape and manage the implementation of myPurduePlan online resources.  The Registrar’s staff is positioned to proactively manage communications and provide training to the undergraduate academic advisors and the impacted student body.  We are committed to working closely with each college and school to help identify, track, and proactively manage risk.
