Employee Payroll Deduction

The RecWell Payroll Deduction Plan is available for Memberships, Locker Rental and/or Towel Services at the Member Services Desk in the CoRec. Rather than having to pay for an annual membership, locker and/or towel service in one lump sum, Purdue employees now have the convenience of a monthly or bi-weekly deduction from their paychecks.

Payroll deduction is offered to faculty, staff, and their household members for gym memberships, locker rental and/or towel services during any month. Employees joining Purdue Recreation & Wellness can enroll in person for payroll deduction at the Member Services. You will be given a receipt detailing the following terms after activating your membership type, locker rental, and/or towel service.  

Below are the terms and conditions you must understand and agree to:

  • The monthly or biweekly deductions will be based on the fees for the services selected, membership type, and pay cycle.
  • Each July, the rates are subject to change. Members will receive an email notification each year with the approved rates.
  • Payroll deduction will remain active until cancellation or change notification is received.
  • Should you miss a deduction for any reason (leave of absence, termination, etc.) you are still responsible for the payment due.
  • Missed payroll deductions will result in cancellation of services.
  • No refunds will be issued.

Membership Rates, Definitions and Eligibility Policies for Payroll Deduction

Faculty/Staff, Household Member, Extended Dependent memberships fall under the same rate category therefore the fee will be consistent. To determine the rate per pay period, choose the membership type and payroll appointment.

Applies to all Memberships

  • Participants must have Full Membership to get member rates or to purchase certain activities (i.e. Intramurals, etc.).
  • Full Membership includes the usage of all facilities for all operational hours.
  • Children must be 16 or over to purchase a full membership.
  • Limited Membership allows for limited access to the facility Monday through Thursday, open to 3pm daily, through the academic year. This membership also allows access all day Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, break, and summer operational hours.
  • Weekend Only Membership is exclusively for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday throughout the entire year.
  • All memberships are per individual.

Locker Rental and Towel Service Payroll Deduction

Employees may enroll for locker rental and towel service in person by payroll deduction at the Member Services desk. There are two sizes of lockers available for rent at the CoRec. The sizes are half locker is 15x15x36 and a full locker is 15x15x72.  You will be given a receipt detailing the terms and conditions of payroll deduction. Listed above are the locker and towel service rates for fiscal and academic appointments.

Daily Use Locker Rental

Combination locks are also available to be purchased for $6.00 and used on a daily use locker or you can bring your own lock to secure personal items. Locks may not be left on lockers overnight. Personal locks left on lockers overnight will be removed and contents of the locker vacated.  In all activity areas there are express day lockers free of charge.

Towel Rental

Daily Towel Rental Fee:$1.00. Towels are available for rent at $1. 00 per day with a valid membership at the Equipment Center.

Payroll Deduction Cancellation or Changes-Complete the on-line form

Faculty/Staff who have enrolled in payroll deduction will remain active members until they leave the University or notify the Welcome Center to cancel their services. Changes, including adding/deleting memberships, can be accommodated. For all cancellation or changes, you must complete the on-line Payroll Deduction Cancellation /Change form or visit Member Services in person. Cancellation will not be accepted by phone. To assist with the timely processing of your request, the notification should be submitted at least 30 days in advance. Memberships, locker rental and towel service will terminate the last day of the month.

Q: Can you sign-up for or renew payroll deduction online? 

A: No, to sign-up for or renew your payroll deduction please visit the Member Services desk in the CoRec. 

Q: What if I don’t want an annual membership, locker, and/or towel service? 

A: We have several other membership options to help meet your needs. To view these options please check our Faculty, Staff, & Retiree Memberships page

Q: Are undergrad or grad students eligible for the payroll deduction program?

A: No, only faculty and staff membership types which include associated household memberships are eligible. Full-fee paying undergrad students have access to Purdue Recreation & Wellness through their student fees.

Q: How much will my first deduction be? 

A: Your first deduction will be based upon the selected services, i.e. membership type, locker fee, towel service, enrollment date, and your University pay cycle. For more information, please reference the tables at the top of this page.

Q: How soon can I use the Recreational Sports Center facilities after I sign up with the payroll deduction program? 

A: Immediately! When you sign up, your card should be activated by RecWell staff at the time of registration. For household or dependent members, an ID card will be printed for them at the time of registration.

Q: Can I sign up for Payroll Deduction if I am an affiliate or a retired faculty/staff employee? 

A: No, all participants must be currently employed by Purdue University and have a valid PUID card.

Q: Can I have my account deducted for my household member or dependent annual memberships? 

A: Yes, payroll deduction is offered for faculty/staff, household, and dependent annual memberships.

Q: What if I no longer want to participate in the payroll deduction plan? 

A: Please complete the on-line payroll deduction cancellation form or visit Member services for assistance. This notification should be submitted at least 30 days in advance of the date you wish to have service terminated.

Q: What happens if I leave the University?

A: When you know you are leaving the University, it is important that you complete the on-line payroll deduction cancellation form or visit the Member Services desk in person. We submit the request to terminate your RecWell deductions by the next possible pay date.

Q: Can I purchase a locker and towel service through payroll deduction? 

A: Yes, we offer these services as a part of the payroll deduction process. For faculty and staff locker rooms, please be aware that there is a waitlist.
