Class Descriptions

AQUA
Aqua Strength and Tone
Grab your swimsuit and head to the Aquatic Center!  Buoyancy belts (aqua joggers) and aquatic equipment are provided. Get stronger and leaner without impact on your joints using water resistance, weights and noodles. This is a great core training, and total body workout for all levels of fitness.

Aqua Body Blast
Experience your favorite workouts in a whole new way – in the pool!  Challenge and change your body with a cross training combination of cardio intervals, strength and core drills, kickboxing, pilates and flexibility work with the added resistance and impact-free benefits of water.

STRENGTH

Body Sculpt
Strength training isn’t just for the weight room.  Body Sculpt is the ultimate class designed to build strength and tone every muscle from head to toe using a variety of equipment including dumbbells, resistance bands, body bars and stability balls.  This class is fun, effective and for all fitness levels.

Get On The Ball!  (NEW)
This stability ball workout is designed to sculpt and tone your entire body with emphasis on the core.  Experience an intense yet fun workout by combing unique sequences of traditional and contemporary body sculpting exercises on a stability ball.  Ball training heightens postural awareness, spinal stabilization and core strengthening.  This session will give you a total body workout and you’ll have a ball doing it too!

Upper Body, Abs, Back 30
This 30-minute session is designed to strengthen and tone the chest, back, shoulders and arms.  A complete workout with abdominal and lower back conditioning as well as chest and shoulder flexibility.

Lower Body, Abs, Back 30
This 30-minute session is designed to strengthen and tone the glutes, thighs and hamstrings.  A complete workout with abdominal and lower back conditioning as well as hip and thigh flexibility.

Core Crunch  (NEW)
Improve your core strength, balance and posture.  A focused workout with cutting edge abdominal and lower back exercises using a variety of strength training tools from mini-med balls, stability balls, tubing, gliding discs and more!

 ACTION SPORTS AND DANCE
20/20/20  (NEW)
20 minutes of cardio, 20 minutes of body sculpting, and 20 minutes of core training in one class!  20/20/20 is something new and exciting that is sure to keep you on your toes!

Cardio Blast
Looking for an awesome cardio workout?  This class is for you!  Prepare for a fun and challenging class that combines high and low impact movements guaranteed to get your heart pumping.  Cardio Blast fuses the best that floor exercise has to offer including hi/lo, dance, agility drills and kickboxing.

Cardio Sculpt
If you’re looking to get a great hi/lo cardio workout with a punch of body sculpting, this is the class for you!  This hi/lo/sculpting combo will guarantee you the workout you’ve been looking for.

Sports Conditioning
Designed for the athlete in all of us!  Your instructor will guide you through a series of circuits and drills designed to improve speed, agility, coordination, balance and power by using the step, weights, stability balls, mini-med balls, resistance tubing, bands and agility ladders! 

Step it Up!
This high energy step class uses both basic and athletic moves to get your heart rate up and body moving.  Enjoy great music, easy moves and a strong core section at the end.

Step-N-Sculpt
This basic step class is guaranteed to give you a great cardiovascular workout with a punch of body sculpting to round out your fitness regimen!

Turbo Kick  (NEW)
The evolution of kickboxing is here!  This addictive workout combines shadow boxing, kickboxing, sport drills, and simple dance moves in a party atmosphere.  Great music and high energy will keep you moving and feeling fit. Come kick, punch and groove in this action-packed, super fun, interval based, cardiovascular workout.  It’s kickboxing and so much more!

Turbo Kick and Sculpt  (NEW)
If you are a Turbo Kick™ fanatic you will LOVE Turbo Kick™ and Sculpt!  Come join the party that combines short bursts of Turbo Kick™ with a punch of body sculpting!    

Zumba  (NEW)
Check out the dance craze that is sweeping the nation!  Inspired by Latin dance and music, Zumba uses a variety of styles in its routines, including cumbia, merengue, salsa, reggaeton, hip-hop, pop, mambo, rumba, flamenco, and calypso and Salsaton. Music selections include both fast and slow rhythms to help tone and sculpt the body with easy to follow dance moves!  No dance experience required.

Latin Dance Groove  (NEW)
Traditional Latin dance styles such as salsa, cha cha, mambo, rumba, cumbia and merengue collide with cardio and aerobic moves that explode with high energy latin music. Easy to follow repetitive choreography that will bring out the Latin Groove within you.

Wild Card
Take a walk on the wild side and mix up your weekend workout with this class!  The instructor and class change each week so you’ll never get the same workout twice! 

Group Exercise Policies

  1. Participation is free Aug. 25 - Sept. 7, 2008.
  2. Beginning Sept. 8, patrons must purchase a group exercise pass at the RSC Welcome Center in order to participate. You will be required to show your Purdue ID and Group Exercise pass to the instructor prior to each class.
  3. Equipment will not be available after the start time of class.
  4. Entry into class is not permitted after the first five minutes of the scheduled start time.
  5. Proper athletic clothing and athletic shoes are required.
  6. Keep yourself hydrated when exercising. Water bottles are permitted—no other food or drink is allowed.
  7. Please clean all equipment after each use.
  8. For your health and safety, participation is recommended in no more than one cardio and one muscular training class per day.
