Spring 2014 Wellness Workshops
All workshops are free and will take place in the Wellness Conference Room. No registration required. Please dress in loose, comfortable clothing; socks or bare feet are acceptable. All required equipment will be provided. No registration required.
Wednesday, January 22, 7-8pm, Wellness Conference Room
This workshop provides an opportunity to explore the fitness benefits of classical ballet. This class will emphasize strength, flexibility and coordination developed through ballet training. The workshop will begin with slow, focused movements, perfect for beginners and those with no previous training in ballet.
Wednesday, February 5, 7-8pm, Wellness Conference Room
Yoga for men or “Broga” is a yoga class geared for men, where it’s okay if you can’t touch your toes. You’ll get that pumped-up feeling you get from working out, in addition to feelings of deep relaxation. This class offers men real tools to improve flexibility and cope with daily stress through an accessible, fitness-based class geared towards beginners.
Wednesday, February 12, 7-8pm, Wellness Conference Room
Bring a friend or significant other and learn effective massage techniques to alleviate tension, enhance relaxation and increase range of motion. This workshop will provide instruction, demonstration and lots of hands-on practice.
Wednesday, February 19, 7-8pm, Wellness Conference Room
By using your own body weight and a foam roller, you will perform a self-massage to break up trigger points, soothe tight muscle fascia, and increase blood flow and circulation to the soft tissues.

Taking time out each day to relax and renew is essential to living well. Restorative Yoga is a gentle, nurturing, therapeutic style of yoga using props for comfort, stability and balance to ease into various yoga poses. The poses, held comfortably for a prolonged period of time, help you unwind, relax and renew the mind and body.
YOGA FOR RUNNERS
Wednesday, April 9, 7-8pm, Wellness Conference Room
This workshop is designed to help runners develop greater flexibility, fitness and mental focus. The sequence of yoga poses you will learn includes key poses for areas of the body that are most overused or prone to injury for runners. It can be used post-run as a thorough stretch and cool down or on its own as important cross-training, injury prevention or to simply unwind after a busy day.
TAI CHI TO GO
Wednesday, April 30, 7-8pm, Wellness Conference Room
This “to-go” method of tai chi is easy to learn, perfect for beginners and easy to take on the road. In this class you will perform a series of postures or movements in a slow, graceful manner that, when combined together, form a short “dance.” The slow circular movements, blended with deep breathing, help to decrease stress, increase range of motion, improve flexibility and balance and cultivate a sense of well-being.
