Philosophy on Fitness & Wellness

My directive as I assess fitness and wellness is balance.  I believe strongly in the body's ability to communicate with us about how it is feeling, and I try to focus my own fitness and wellness around listening to my body's needs.  I think that once people understand, truly, what it is to feel good--through balanced nutrition, exercise, and purposeful rest and meditation--they are empowered to live healthy in their individual way.  This helps to stem comparison and resentment for those with different body types and capabilities, and to be able to think about wellness at a higher level than what pictures, magazines, and other elements impress upon us about health.

There are plenty of ways to stay active. Keep looking until you find an activity you love—because it interests you, because you sincerely like doing it, or because it challenges you in a way that wakes you up inside—not because you think you should, and not because someone else told you to do it.

Both fitness and wellness are important aspects of living a happy healthy life. There is no need to compete with others at the gym, but rather with yourself. All bodies works at a different pace, therefore, if you feel good in your own skin keep it that way. Also, no one said fitness has to be boring and painful. I believe in a fun, energetic, and family friendly workout.

Whether it’s a martial arts club, walking with a group of friends or taking a group fitness class, if you find something that makes you happy, share it!  Be that spark in another person's life by inviting them to join you on your journey towards fitness and health, or what I like to call exercise endorphin happy land!
