L. Tony Hawkins Low Team Challenge Course
Physical Activity Level: Easy to Moderate.
Who: All Groups.
The L. Tony Hawkins Low Team Challenge Course was named after the former Purdue University Dean of Students and has been located off of Airport Road since 2005. The low team challenge course is more adaptable than the high team challenge course for groups at an earlier stage in their development process. This course is strongly recommended for these types of groups because the low elements are more abstract than physical in nature. The reduced physical strain allows participants to focus more cognitive energy on both the task itself and how their groups are progressing through the group development process.
Time Commitment: Programs are offered at two, three, or four hour lengths.
|Purdue Student, Faculty or Staff||Non-Purdue|
Class of 1979 High Team Challenge Course
Physical Activity Level: Moderate to High.
Who: Groups that have been together for a significant period of time, are further along in the group development process, or have participated in a low team challenge course.
In 2005, the high team challenge course was gifted to Purdue University as the main donation from the Class of 1979. This type of high team challenge course is designed specifically for groups that are farther along in the developmental process. The nature of our high challenge course demands participants to be engaged on a more complex level to follow along with not only the rules for each element but also a higher degree of safety requirements. Groups that are unable to make the time commitment for a full high course have the option of a partial high program in which they will only experience the first two levels of the course.
Time Commitment: A full high course will take between four to five hours and a partial high program will take between two to three hours.
Maximum Group Size: A full high program can accommodate up to 28 participants and a partial high program can have up to 16 participants.

*Participants must be at least 13 years of age.
Combo Team Challenge Course
Physical Activity Level: Moderate to High.
Who: Groups looking to experience a more in depth progression through the group development process.
The Combo Team Challenge Course option is a program that involves a two to three hour Low Team Challenge Course combined with either a Partial or Full High Team Challenge Course. Groups will begin their journey with low impact activities on the L. Tony Hawkins Low Team Challenge Course until they work their way up to the more complex and strenuous Class of 1979 High Team Challenge Course. This program is designed to focus more on the progression aspect of group development and learning over a longer period of time. A combo course can take between four to eight hours depending on the specific program choices.
Time Commitment: The low team challenge course will take either two or three hours. Groups will spend an additional two to three hours if they choose the partial high course option or four to five hours if they choose the full high program.Maximum Group Size: A full high program can accommodate up to 28 participants and a partial high program can have up to 16 participants.
