Mission

The Division of Recreational Sports contributes to the Purdue experience by providing recreation programs which foster self-discovery, learning, engagement and an appreciation for a healthy lifestyle.

Values

The Division of Recreational Sports upholds and practices the following values:

Celebrate Differences
We recognize and celebrate the intrinsic worth of each individual and the benefits derived in embracing individual, cultural and ethnic differences.  We will create a respectful environment that facilitates an open exchange of ideas, nurtures creative expression, and accentuates cross cultural interaction that is inherent to recreational experiences.

Optimize Resources
We take full responsibility for the efficient and effective use of our time and resources and strive to make decisions that take into full consideration the impact to our participants and the community.

Remember Our Customer
Our legacy as the first recreational facility in the country is a catalyst for innovation and the pursuit of excellence in all we do.  We must anticipate our participants’ needs, work to exceed their expectations and be mindful of their safety.  To help staff remember critical components of service think:

Greet    Understand    Engage    Smile    Thank You

Educate Always
We believe recreational sports plays a powerful role in the transformative learning that occurs at Purdue—enhancing academic performance, personal effectiveness, and the quality of life in the campus community.  We intentionally and continually seize opportunities to develop lifetime learners.

Collaborate
We believe in the synergistic benefits of individuals and groups working together to achieve a common cause.  We strive to provide opportunities that will promote camaraderie and lifelong connections.

Fun!
We value the pursuit of healthy, active lifestyles, good sportsmanship, and competition. We believe that life should be fun!

Vision

The Division of Recreational Sports will be a national leader by offering the most integrated and comprehensive recreational programs, services, and facilities.
