Outdoor Facilities
Gold & Black Fields

There's nothing like playing the sport you love outdoors! And if you enjoy the outdoors, you've come to the right place. Rec Sports at Purdue has over 125 acres with a large portion of that being the Black and Gold Fields. These fields offer a variety of facilities for outdoor sports like soccer, softball, rugby, cricket, flag football, and ultimate frisbee.

Outdoor Basketball

Reserve space or have an informal game of basketball on one of our outdoor courts.
You'll find one at Vawter Field located on the corner of Martin Jischke Drive and Third Street. Two more are behind (to the North of) the TREC.
Outdoor Sand Volleyball

Have fun in the sun playing sand volleyball.
Courts are conveniently located in two places: immediately west of the Boilermaker Aquatic Center and just east of Pickett Park.
For equipment rentals, visit the Member Services Desk in the TREC.
Pickett Park

Take a minute to slow down and relax at Pickett Park. Here you can enjoy the serenity and landscape as you step away from the hustle and bustle to a convenient location right here at Purdue. Bring a picnic or a good book to the corner of Stadium Ave. and McCormick Rd. Pickett Park is available for reservation to groups and organizations affiliated with the University.
Pickett Memorial Park is named for the late Dean Pickett, a student at Purdue. He died in July 1969 in Yosemite National Park when a ledge he was standing on gave way. His parents, Robert and Margaret Pickett, established the park in 1971 to memorialize their son and his great love of the outdoors. In the spring of 1998, the class of 1999 renovated the park.
Outdoor Tennis Courts

Eligible participants can make tennis court reservations up to 14 days in advance but not less than one hour before. The fee is $3 per hour and can be made at the Shreve Hall, TREC, Aquatic Center or E/W Gym main service desks or by calling 765.494.3109.
For informal recreation, tennis has priority over other sports and activities. However, reservations take priority over tennis and other activities.
