Recreational Sports Employee Payroll Deduction for annual Memberships, Locker, and/or Towel Service

The Recreational Sports Payroll Deduction Plan is available for annual Memberships, Locker and/or Towel Services at the Welcome Center.  Signing up for payroll deduction will eliminate renewing those services ever again!  Rather than having to pay for an annual membership, locker and/or towel service in one lump sum, Purdue employees now have the convenience of a monthly or bi-weekly deduction from their paychecks.  Sign up at anytime!

Payroll deduction is offered to faculty/staff employees for annual services which include memberships, locker and/or towel services during any month.  Employees may join the Recreational Sports Center and enroll in payroll deduction in person at the Welcome Center.   You will be given a receipt detailing the following terms after activating your membership type, locker fee, and/or towel service.  

Below are the terms and conditions you must understand and agree to:

  • The monthly or biweekly deductions will be based on the fees for the services selected, membership type, enrollment date, and pay cycle.
  • Each July, the rates are subject to change.  Members will receive an email notification each year with the approved rates.
  • Payroll deduction will remain active until cancellation or change notification is received.
  • Should you miss a deduction for any reason (leave of absence, termination, etc.) you are still responsible for the payment due.
  • Missed payroll deductions will result in cancellation of services.
  • No refunds will be issued.

Payroll Deduction Cancellation or Changes

Members who enroll in payroll deduction will remain active members until they leave the University or notify the Welcome Center to cancel their membership.  Changes, including adding/deleting memberships, can be accommodated.  For all membership cancellation or changes, you must complete the on-line Payroll Deduction Cancellation /Change form or visit the Welcome Center in person.  Cancellation will not be accepted via email or phone.  To assist with the timely processing of your request, the notification should be submitted at least 30 days in advance.  Memberships will terminate the last day of the month.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I purchase a locker and towel service through payroll deduction?
A:  Yes, we will offer payroll deduction for locker and towel service upon completion of the new Purdue Student Fitness and Wellness Center in July 2012. 

Q: What if I don’t want an annual membership, locker, and/or towel service?
A: We have several other options; please visit the web site for more detailed information. 

Q: Are undergrad or grad students eligible for the payroll deduction program?
A: No, only faculty and staff membership types which include associated household membership and family memberships are being offered.  Full-fee paying undergrad students have access to the Recreational Sports Center through their student fees.

Q: How much will my first deduction be?
A: Your first deduction will be based upon the selected services, i.e. membership type, locker fee, towel service, enrollment date, and your University pay cycle.

Q: How soon can I use the Recreational Sports facilities after I sign up with the payroll deduction program?
A: Immediately. When you sign up, you will receive a receipt from the Recreational Sports staff. Use this receipt until your PUID card is activated (approximately three to four business days).

Q: Can I sign up for Payroll Deduction if I am an affiliate or a retired faculty/staff employee?
A: No, all participants must be currently employed by Purdue University and have a valid PUID card.

Q: Can I have my account deducted for my household member or dependent annual memberships?
A: Yes, payroll deduction is offered faculty/staff household, dependents, and family annual memberships.

Q: What if I no longer want to participate in the payroll deduction plan?
A: Please complete the on-line payroll deduction cancellation form or visit the Welcome Center for assistance.  This notification should be submitted, in person, at least 30 days in advance.

Q: What happens if I leave the University?
A: When you know you are leaving the University, it is important that you complete the on-line payroll deduction cancellation form or visit the Welcome Center in person.  We submit the request to terminate your Rec Sports deductions by the next possible pay date.
