It is very important for students to come prepared with any medications they are currently taking. Starting college may be viewed by students as beginning something new and many times they feel this is a fresh start and want to change the way they have been dealing with their health concerns. It is not a good time for them to try something new with their prescriptions. Please encourage them to continue taking any prescription medications, and once they are settled, come into PUSH to discuss possible changes with a provider. Prescriptions written for your student at PUSH may be filled at the Purdue University Pharmacy (PUP) or any community pharmacy. If your insurance plan has a medication benefits program, please remind your students of their choices regarding medication refills. Also, please remind your student about securing their routine medications as they would secure any of their valuable possessions (lock your residence hall room; do not carry large quantities of medication in your back pack, etc.).
