We encourage students to make appointments for clinical services. Appointments for medical care may be made on-line, using the student portal, or the student may call PUSH at (765) 494-1700. We may have a limited number of walk in appointments available, particularly during periods of high utilization. For Counseling and Psychological Services students may call (765) 494-6995 to schedule an appointment.

Medical Clinic

PUSH Extended Care

Extended Care is a walk-in service that is offered after PUSH closes to appointments in the afternoon. In addition to providing medical care, Extended Care also provides care for minor injuries when the Medical Clinic is open as well as after hours. Extended Care hours during the week are: Monday – Friday 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM. Extended care is also available Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM. Extended Care services will be billed to the student’s insurance with their signed authorization.

*Please note that our hours change during semester breaks, holidays, etc.

After Hours Care

In the event a student has a life-threatening emergency, the student should call 911, both on campus and off campus. Purdue University has two ALS Ambulances available to assist students in the event of a medical emergency. After hours care is provided by an area hospital off campus. During those times when PUSH Extended Care is not open, local urgent care services are available at the following locations:

Area Hospitals

In the West Lafayette/Lafayette area there are several hospitals available to serve Purdue Students. The following is general information about each of these hospitals:

IU Health Arnett Hospital: 5165 McCarty Ln. Lafayette, IN 47905, (765) 448-8000
St. Elizabeth Hospital East: 1701 S. Creasy Ln, Lafayette, IN 47905, (765) 502-4000
St. Elizabeth Hospital Central: 1501 Hartford St., Lafayette, IN 47904, (765) 423-6011

All After Hours urgent care and hospital services are billed to the student.

If it is after hours and your student is trying to determine if he/she needs to seek out emergency care for an illness or injury, a nurse call service may be available through your insurance company to assist in helping him/her make a decision about self-care or emergency care. If available, that telephone number would be on the back of his/her insurance card.

Medical Excuse for Class

PUSH provides a Visit Verification (class excuse) for patients who have received medical care. Class Excuses are not provided without consultation with a provider or the Triage nurse. Make sure to request this from your provider during time of visit. Please be aware that PUSH can provide the Visit Verification, but only a professor may excuse a student absence.

Medical Withdrawals

Occasionally a situation develops with a student where they are unable to complete coursework due to a medical issue. Students may request a medical withdrawal from the Office of the Dean of Students.
