Length of time at PUSH:

I came to PUSH right after my fellowship in 1985. I knew early into my residency that I was professionally fulfilled by caring for young adults. I chose training that would prepare me for their care. I have never wanted to do any other practice.

Why do you like working at PUSH?

The simple answer is joy. There are no better patients than college students and no better practice than college health. Students are motivated to stay well/return to wellness, they challenge their healthcare providers with new ideas and they have such amazing life goals. The exchange of information often goes two ways.

What is your philosophy of care?

Healthcare is a partnership. A treatment plan must be evidence-based medically and must be endorsed by the patient. When these two elements combine, health can be optimized.

What do you like to do when you're not at PUSH?

My daughters are grown and pursuing careers in medicine - one with humans and one with animals. I share my home with a hedgehog. I surround myself with whimsy. I find value in the ordinary and charm in the unique. I must laugh out loud every day.

Fun Facts about me:

I’m a 34 year member of the Smocking Arts Guild of America (SAGA). So far, I’m the only one in my local guild who has sewn on human flesh. (See above- I like to do wound care.)
