Length of time at PUSH:

I have had varying experiences in many aspects of health care prior to coming to PUSH in January, 2016. I began my career in a small hospital in northern New York in 1985; having worked in Medical/Surgical, Intensive Care, Emergency Room, and Labor & Delivery. I spent a few years working in a private Obstetrician’s office, then moved onto Occupational Health and Primary Care.

Why do you like working at PUSH?

Two reasons:

1) The students and the staff.  I find it a pleasure getting to know Purdue's diverse group of students and providing the medical care they need while pursuing their degrees. It is a stressful and demanding season for each of them, and many of them are a long way from home. I enjoy being involved in their health, both mentally and physically, getting them “on the mend” as quickly as possible.

2) All of the staff at PUSH are a wonderful group to work with. They are knowledgeable, compassionate, and fun. We collaborate well together and have a common interest in providing quality care and a positive experience for the students.

What is your philosophy of care?

Providing medical care is a great privilege, and I don't take the responsibility lightly. I feel it is very important to provide a positive atmosphere; one in which my patients feel at home and comforted while being encouraged to advocate for their own health. I want my patients to walk away knowing their concerns matter to me and that while they are away from home, they have a medical provider here at Purdue that has their best interests at heart.

What do you like to do when you’re not at PUSH?

My husband and I currently participate in Time Trials; 20k and 40k bike races. We belong to the Fort Wayne Outfitters Team and race in several states throughout the season. I also enjoy running, hiking, and the outdoors.

Between my husband and I we have 7 children, 4 grandchildren, with 2 more on the way, and many more in the future. Wow. Children are a blessing and grandchildren…. Well, I am speechless!

I also love fitness and have taught many exercise classes throughout the years. I continue to make it a priority in my life and enjoy encouraging others in the same.

Fun Fact about me:

I enjoy staying active and trying many different sports. But the best I’ve ever bowled is a 27!
