Discovery Park's Cancer Prevention Internship Program is partnering with Lafayette's YMCA Women's Cancer Program to show the documentary "Someone You Love: The HPV Epidemic" on February 26th from 6-9 pm in Fowler Hall. The following is a synopsis of the movie:
The Human Papilloma Virus HPV may be the most widespread, misunderstood and potentially dangerous epidemic that most people hardly know anything about. 80 percent of all people under 50 years of age will have a strain of the virus at some point in their lives and most will not even realize they have it. Cervical cancer is almost exclusively caused by HPV and it is the 2nd leading cancer in women. Worldwide, cervical cancer kills over 250,000 women every year. Meet five unforgettable women whose lives have been changed forever and even interrupted by this deadly virus.

To provide a comprehensive fitness program specific to the needs of an elderly and retired population. The program will consist of four unique workshops detailing intentional topics for 20 individuals in the select population. Each biweekly workshop will include follow-up “challenges” specific to each topic that will be used to gauge understanding and promote adherence.
