POL 520: Special Topics in Public Policy - Healthcare Policy and Politics
Tuesdays, 6:30-9:20 p.m., BRNG 1254
POL 520 focuses on the problems of accessibility, quality, and cost in the healthcare system and the way that policy histories, interests, and political forces and institutions impact the balance of these three criteria. The American healthcare system is the highest cost but one of the least effective in regard to the health outcomes of its citizenry. Why is this so? What are possible soultions?

SPRING 2014 Course Offering POL 462: Constitutional Law II - Civil Rights and Liberties
T/Th, 3:00-4:15 p.m., BRNG 1245
This course will treat several topics relating to the Bill of Rights. In particular, the Equal Protection Clause of the 14thAmendment, and the incorporation of the Bill of Rights will be treated in detail, using a casebook and a collection of Supreme Court opinions. If time permits, the Right of Free Press will also be addressed as an example of Supreme Court policy making. Grades for this course will be based on a class project, daily writing assignments, oral class participation, and a final examination.

- ENGL/CMPL 267 "World Literature: From 1700 AD to the Present."
These two foundational courses, which can both be found on the university core listing, offer a comparative survey of the masterpieces of world literature in translation!
