Purdue SpiritMakers Contest

Purdue and Greater Lafayette area leaders have a new initiative this fall that promises to be a win-win for the football team and the local community. Individuals and businesses are encouraged throughout the football season to create displays at their home or business showing Purdue spirit, with the goal of creating a greater sense of community. Prizes are awarded to winners of the contest for each home football game weekend.

Photos must be submitted by noon on Wednesdays the week prior to home football games. Voting then takes place on the Purdue Athletics Storefront Contest Facebook page from Thursday at noon until 12 a.m. on Wednesday. The entrant with the most votes receives a grouping of game tickets, refreshments and a gift certificate, all delivered to the site of the winning display by the Boilermaker Special. In addition, a photo of the week's winning Spirit Maker display will be featured for four days on Purdue's home page as a banner image and appear on the video screen at the football game. One voter from each week's voting also will be randomly selected for a prize. Download the contest rules (PDF) for more details.

Deadlines and a timeline for each week's contest are as follows:

Sept. 1 vs. Eastern Kentucky

Winner: Teeki Hut, 112 South River Road.

Sept. 15 vs. Eastern Michigan

Winner: Stall & Kesslers Diamond Center, 333 Columbia Street, Lafayette, IN

Sept. 29 vs. Marshall

Winner: Purdue Transportation Services, 775 Ahlers Drive, West Lafayette, IN

Oct. 6 vs. Michigan

Winner: Visit Lafayette – West Lafayette, 301 Frontage Road, Lafayette, IN

Oct. 13 vs. Wisconsin

Winner: Kathy's Kandies, 611 Main Street Lafayette, IN

Nov. 3 vs. Penn State

Winner: Pappy's Sweet Shop at the Purdue Memorial Union

Nov. 24 vs. Indiana

• Photos will be posted to Facebook for votes by noon on Thursday, Nov. 15.
• Voting will continue until 12 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 20.
• Winner announced on Nov. 20.
