Football joins the fight against cancer on October 12 as the Purdue Boilermakers and Nebraska Corn Huskers battle at the gridiron for the first time in 55 years and the first time as Big Ten conference foes. For this Hammer Down Cancer game, fans are asked to wear cancer supporting shirts to help those battling the disease and honor those who have survived. The Purdue football team will display their support for cancer research by wearing pink during the game.

Cancer is an issue that has directly touched the lives of so many Boilermakers, which is why Purdue is committed to helping make a difference in cancer prevention and research.

The Purdue University Center for Cancer Research brings together the best minds from within Purdue University and beyond to study cancers where they start - inside the cell. The Cancer Research Center discovers how cancer develops, progress and respond to treatment. Their work leads to the advancement of new medicines, diagnostic tools and treatment devices.
