Conversations with: Bishop Gene Robinson
Monday, October 28 – 7:00 pm
Fowler Hall
Gene Robinson, IX Bishop of the Diocese of New Hampshire in the Episcopal Church (Retired), is the first openly gay person elected to the episcopate and the world’s leading religious spokesperson for gay rights and marriage equality. Robinson has a knack for addressing complex, controversial issues through direct language, avoiding polemics and ideology, and uniting sacred and secular points of view. He’s also someone for whom marriage equality is a personal issue. Married to a woman for 14 years, Robinson is a father of two children and has been married to a man for the last four years of a 25-year relationship. His Purdue visit will feature three public events over two days, along with classroom discussions and meetings with student and community groups, providing broad access to his perspectives and opportunities for community discourse.
