Krannert Leadership Speakers Series: J.R. Martinez - Actor, Spokesman and Retired Soldier

Martinez sustained severe burns over 40 percent of his body.He has subsequently gone on to share his inspirational story of hope, determination, and possibility across the country. He was the winner of Season 13 of ABC's Dancing with the Stars; played the role of Brot Monroe on the ABC daytime drama All My Children; and served as Grand Marshall of the 2012 Rose Parade. The Tip-Off Before Kickoff

Purdue Athletics will host The Tip-Off Before the Kickoff at Mackey Arena on Friday, Oct. 12, adding the official start of basketball season to the excitement of Homecoming weekend and the Boilermaker football team's clash with Wisconsin the following day at Ross-Ade Stadium. The evening will begin at approximately 7:45 p.m. ET with the annual Night Parade. The parade will start at the Morton Community Center in West Lafayette and travel through Chauncey Village on State Street before cutting up University Street and culminating at Mackey Arena.
