Dorothy A. Reed, Ph.D, Assistant Provost is responsible for implementing and reporting on the academic plan for diversity and helping to set the annual agenda; enhancing the retention for first generation and minority students; and direct oversight and management of the ethnic cultural centers; and advisor to the Provost for needs, opportunities, priorities and activities in the area of educational equity.
Dr. Reed received her B.S. degree from Tuskegee University. She received her M.S. degree from Purdue University and her Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from Michigan State University. Dr. Reed served as the director of Minority Affairs in the College of Science at Purdue University before going to Michigan State University. During her sixteen years at Michigan State University she was the director of the Charles Drew Science Enrichment Program in the College of Natural Science and the Director of the Office of Supportive Services in the Provost and Vice President’s Office. She provided the vision, and strategic planning for retention of first generation, income eligible and academically disadvantaged students. Dr Reed’s research interest is in retaining academically disadvantaged and gifted students in the Sciences.
