Purdue Young Faculty Association

What is PYFA?

The Purdue Young Faculty Association (aka PYFA) provides opportunities for incoming and existing faculty to socialize and foster friendships and

connections across the Purdue community.  One of the missions of PYFA is also to assist in professional networking across campus to foster multidisciplinary research collaborations and to exchange ideas/tips for teaching, mentoring, and group management skills.  "Young Faculty" is open-ended and self-selecting; professors of all ranks and ages are welcome to take part in PYFA events.

You should receive emails from PYFA inviting you to monthly happy hours, Lafayette festivals, Purdue Convocations, and other opportunities to socialize with faculty from departments across campus.  New faculty are added to the PYFA mailing list each Fall; however, sometimes, information is not available for email contact, and mid-year hires may also be missed, though not by intention.  If you do not receive these emails and would like to be on the list, please send a note to pyfa@purdue.edu. You can also keep up with the calendar of

events on the wiki page, http://pyfa.wikidot.com/.

In addition to the monthly happy hours, PYFA's signature event, with generous support of the Office of the Provost, is a welcome event every fall at the beginning of the semester for "new" and "young" faculty to meet and mingle.

Have a suggestion for a future PYFA event? Want to ask a specific question about PYFA? Please contact one or both of the co-chairs directly.
