Summer Vacation Plans

Emma Meyer

Major: History & Political Science

Hometown: Paoli, IN

I will be traveling to Copenhagen, Denmark to participate in the 18th annual conference for the International Society for Humor Studies, July 3-7, 2006. The conference is a convergence of humor scholars from around the world to discuss different aspects of humor. My presentation will examine humorous political cartoons from the Cold War era. This conference is a continuance of last semester’s Dammon Dean’s Scholar project with Professor Victor Raskin from the English department. I am very excited to see the amazing city of Copenhagen! As Hans Christian Andersen said, “My passion it was once to walk on the streets of Copenhagen…”

Aside from presenting my project at the conference this summer, I will be working with my father, spending time with old friends, catching up on my reading list, and hopefully getting a tan.
