Jamal Ratchford

Jamal Ratchford earned highest ranking senior and graduated magna cum laude with his BA in African American Studies in 2004 from Morehouse College. In 2006, he earned an M.A. in History from Purdue University and currently is a Ph.D. Candidate under the advisement of Professor Randy Roberts.  In 2008, Jamal won first prize in the graduate essay competition from the National Council for Black Studies and he currently is a graduate instructor for African American Studies at Purdue. Prior to joining the UHP staff, Jamal worked as a graduate assistant in the Black Cultural Center Library, a teaching assistant in the Department of History, a research assistant for Professor Leonard Harris in Philosophy and Literature, and an academic mentor in Intercollegiate Athletics.

 

As the graduate administrative professional, Jamal assists National/International Scholarships Coordinator, Cristy Cornell, on ways to market funding opportunities to Purdue students with the goal of helping them become more competitive for renowned and external fellowships.
